 A fascinating event at Ernst & Young More London, hosted by the fabulous Fleur Bothwick OBE, E&Y's EMEA Head of Inclusion. 

Author Meena Thurasingham is an organisational psychologist and shared with us some of her insights from her book ‘The Secret Life of Decisions’. 



Analysing why we as leaders often get it wrong when making a decision and demonstrating how often emotions shape the process, even when we’re convinced we’re being completely objective. 


Meena explained that the processes we use are ‘hardwired’ so that our subconscious bias can repeatedly thwart our judgement.

Susan Bookbinder, charismatic broadcaster and founder of Zamala International delivered superlative media training to Pink Shoe members and colleagues. It was a lively and interactive day as Susan put the group through its paces and gave everyone some valuable insider tips on handling TV and radio interviews. Said by one of the Pink Shoe delegates to be the best training they'd ever received.

Women on Boards Debate

The Women 2 Win Professional Women's Network hosted an excellent debate on Women on Boards. 

Skillfully chaired by Jackie Stephenson, with panellists including Helena Morrisey, Meg Lustman, Therese Coffey MP, and Helen Loveless, Enterprise Editor of the Mail on Sunday.

              

Made in Britain Awards

At the IoD, we heard from Business Secretary Vince Cable of the importance of encouraging British Manufacturing. 

All the finalists of the Made in Britain Awards were exceptional businesses.

Breaking the Mould

The first Breaking the Mould Awards were held at the IoD and organised by Lisa Buckingham OBE, Editor of the Financial Mail on Sunday and her superb team, including Jackie Jay and Vicki Owen.

IWD Roll of Honour 2013 at House of Lords

At the House of Lords, Helene Martin Gee and Jill Pay presided over the announcement of the 2013 Roll of Honour to celebrate International Women's Day. 

After the presentation, guests enjoyed a sparkling afternoon tea hosted by The Earl of Erroll and Baroness Morris. 

This year's theme is 'Wonderful Women' inspirational women who have touched our lives. These amazing women were nominated by Pink Shoe members and friends. All those nominated are included, there was no selection process, as all these wonderful women have inspired those who nominated them.

As Helene said in her introduction, the list comprises women from all backgrounds and areas of life, and all have achieved a great deal, working locally, nationally, internationally. Some are household names and others are well known within their communities. 

What they each have in common is they are all making a tangible difference to the lives of others. These women are truly inspiring!



We were delighted to be joined by many of the women included in the Roll of Honour, and those who had nominated them, along with Pink Shoe members and friends, as well as students from Lambeth Academy and Cardinal Pole schools.

With huge thanks to Ling Tyler-Bennett; to all who nominated the Wonderful Women for the Roll of Honour, to Lucy Temple for researching and compiling the list, and to Sanna Shahzada who did a great job of managing the presentation on the day.
