GEM is the most comprehensive survey into entrepreneurship and data will also feed into the new Enterprise Research Council. APPGE Founder and Vice Chairman Lord Ahmed welcomed everyone to the meeting, which was skilfully Chaired by Professor Mark Hart.
Some highly interesting facts were revealed in the GEM study. Of particular interest to Pink Shoe delegates, Mark Hart announced that the study shows ‘there is an increase in female entrepreneurship from 2010/2011’.
Delegates
heard from Jonathan Levie about the generational effects of migration on TEA
Rates in G7 countries. He told us: ‘those who have at least one immigrant parent
are more likely to have higher ambition’ while inward migrants also have higher
rates of entrepreneurship ‘you are more likely to be an entrepreneur if one or
both parents are immigrants and are in business’.
Erkko Autio of GEDI explained how the entrepreneurial ecosystem supports
start-ups. We also heard from leading entrepreneur Princess Shahnaz Husain about her inspiring
passion for business and what an opportunity it offers. After an interactive Q&A
